The Warrior and The Little Monk
A warrior once went to see a little monk. “Monk!” the warrior shouted, in a voice demanding obedience and attention,
“Teach me of heaven and hell!”
The little monk looked up at the mighty warrior and with disdain says,“Teach you about heaven and hell? I couldn’t teach you about anything. You’re an idiot, a filthy disgrace, and an embarrassment to warriors everywhere. Get out of my sight. You are not welcome here.
The warrior felt shaken, hot faced and speechless with rage. The warrior pulled out a sword, and extended it above their head; the monk, looking straight into the warriors eyes said softly,
“That’s hell.”
The warrior froze, recognizing compassion and fearlessness in the monk, who had risked their life to teach the warrior about hell. The Warrior put down the sword and fell to their knees, filled with gratitude. Then, the little monk said softly,
“That’s heaven.”
